'Lucky'

 15.1hh, 2001, AQHA gelding.

'Lucky', as he is now called, is a fairly recent arrival to Cardinal Ranch. He came from a loving home but needed a few additions to his foundation. The more we get to know him the better we like this horse! He is a kind and easy going character and a pleasure to ride. Chance is doing the Level 3/4 Development Program with 'Filicity' a Parelli student from the UK. This should round out his training quite nicely and he will be ready to leave head to a new partner in Sept. Other experiences on the ranch include cattle drives and lots of trail riding. Lucky has already passed his first test with flying colours as we drove our herd of horses into the Raush Valley. He and Filicity managed to open and close some tricky wire gates and keep it together as the herd tore around them, all while leading the boss mare! Good riding Fliss! Your 'prior and proper preparation' (quote from Pat Parelli) is really paying off.

Update: October 2009: Lucky and Fliss just sent in their Level 3 Auditions. Lucky has turned into a real confidence builder. I have watched our 9 yr old daughter enjoy him when Fliss left to go back to the UK for a few months. Lucky looks like Mr. Dependable as she leads him around by the mane, opens and closes gates from his back and canters around in that lovely slow canter. She canters around in the pasture playground bareback in in just a halter jumping everything in their path. He has all the makings of a truely great family horse.
